Inspection Points

Please verify that the following steps have been completed on your machine.

Case open, power off:

  1. CPU mounted
  2. heatsink compound applied
  3. heatsink installed
  4. heatsink fan connected to power supply
  5. DIMM installed in DIMM 1
  6. JP2 (CMOS RAM Clear Selector) set to "Normal Mode"
  7. JP3 (Internal VGA Selector) set to "Enable"
  8. JP4 (DIMM Voltage Selector) set to "3.3V"
  9. JP5 (CPU External Clock Selectors) set to "66MHz"
  10. JP6 (CPU Core Voltage Selectors) set to "2.2V"
  11. JP7 (CPU Internal Clock Speed Selectors) set to "4.5X"
  12. JP8 (CPU Type Selector) set to "P55C (Dual Voltage)"
  13. JP9 (Microphone Type Jumper) set to "Normal Type"
  14. Motherboard securely mounted to case
  15. Power cable connected to mother board
  16. Floppy drive securely mounted
  17. Floppy drive power cable connected
  18. Floppy drive controller cable connected correctly to floppy drive and floppy disk port (FDC) on motherboard
  19. Hard drive installed
  20. Hard drive power cable connected
  21. Hard drive set to master device
  22. Hard drive controller cable connected correctly to hard drive and Primary IDE controller connection (IDE1) on motherboard
  23. Male DB9 connector mounted in case punchout and connected as COM1.
  24. Male DB25 connector mount in case punchout and connected as COM2.
  25. Female DB25 connector mounted in case punchout and connected as PRN.
  26. Female VIDEO connector mounted in Slot 1 and connected as VGA.
  27. Sound/Joystick connector mounted in Slot 8 and connected as J6 and GAME.
  28. 3c905B cards mounted in Slot 2, Slot 3, Slot 4, and Slot 5 and firmly connected to the corresponding PCI connectors.
  29. 3c509B card mounted in Slot 6 or Slot 7, and firmly connected to the corresponding ISA connector.
  30. Hard Drive LED jumper wire connected to J3 (HDD-LED).
  31. Speaker mounted securely in bottom of case.
  32. Speaker jumper wire connected to J3 (SPK).
  33. Reset Switch jumper wire connected to J3 (RST).
  34. Power LED jumper wire connected to J3 (KEY LOCK).
  35. Turbo LED jumper wire not connected.
  36. Turbo Switch jumper wire not connected.

Case closed, power on:

  1. 1 Mbyte video RAM
  2. 32 Mbytes memory okay
