How to Program Java,
(Que, 1996).
Intended for first time programmers, therefore, may be slow for the
experienced programmer. May even work with an introductory
programming class. The author claims that Java is the one language
someone should know if they know only one language. I love his name.

- Eckel, Bruce.
Thinking in Java,
(Prentice-Hall, 1998).
- Goodrich, Michael T., and Roberto Tamassia.
Data Structures and Algorithms in Java,
(John Wiley & Sons, 1998).
A plausible text for our Algorithms and Data Structures if we were
using Java. It also has an appendix "A: A Java Primer" which looks
like it's pitched at a person who knows at least one programming
language very well.
- Harold, Elliotte Rusty.
The
Java Developer's Resource: A Tutorial and On-Line Supplement
(Prentice-Hall 1997).
